STORM LAKE, Iowa – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over Buena Vista on Wednesday evening at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium and Peterson Field. The Falcons generated 21 shots, including 13 on goal, while holding the Beavers to two shots.
The win moves UWRF to 5-1-0 on the season, while Buena Vista falls to 2-4-1.
The Falcons scored early in the third minute when
Ellie Ketcher found the net unassisted for her fourth goal of the season, giving UWRF a 1-0 lead. In the 40th minute,
Lexi Atkinson added her second goal of season, assisted by
Brielle Blome, to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead into half. UWRF extended the lead in the 57th minute with
Brooke McDaniel scoring her second goal as well, assisted by
Emery Bigler, finalizing the score at 3-0.
UWRF's defense limited Buena Vista to zero corner kicks while securing a 4-0 advantage in corners. Goalkeeper's
Kiera Nelson and
Miyah Geffre earned the shutout with a save a piece. The Falcons committed five fouls compared to Buena Vista's five, with no cards issued.
The Falcons will aim to continue their success this Saturday at home on Senior Day. UWRF will host Central College at 4 p.m. at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
