STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational, falling 3-1 against Carroll University before sweeping Lakeland University, 3-0.
The Falcons, now 5-8 overall (0-1 WIAC), hosts St. Catherine University next Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Page Arena.
Carroll 3, UW-River Falls 1
UWRF fell to Carroll in four sets on Saturday morning during its first of two matches on the day, falling 3-1 (25-27, 25-20, 16-25, 16-25).
Blessing Adebisi led the Falcons with 14 kills and a .448 hitting percentage, while Lauren Noth added 10 kills and four aces. Olivia Noble tallied 31 assists and Ava Goldsberry recorded a team-high nine digs.
Despite a strong second set, UWRF struggled to maintain consistency, finishing with a .107 team hitting percentage. Carroll hit .310 as a team and pulled away in the final two sets.
UW-River Falls 3, Lakeland 0
The Falcons bounced back in game two of the day to earn their first win of the weekend, sweeping the Muskies 25-13, 25-16, and 25-20.
UWRF controlled the match from start to finish, hitting .226 as a team while holding Lakeland to just a .051 hitting percentage. Kelsey Klesner led the way with 14 kills and a .387 hitting percentage, while Olivia Noble dished out 25 assists and added five digs.
Lauren Noth and Blessing Adebisi each contributed seven kills, and Amanda Baumann added five service aces. UW-River Falls also tallied 13 aces and 40 digs as a team.
