SUPERIOR, Wis. — The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team won 4-0 Friday night over UW-Superior in the WIAC three-game series opener at Wessman Arena.

UWRF improves to 15-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference with its 11th win in row. The Falcons scored two power play goals and two even-strength tallies, including two goals by Madison Kadrlik. It marked the 11th game in a row in which UWRF has scored at least one power play goal, and the fifth consecutive game with multiple power play goals.

After a scoreless first period, the Falcons scored three in the middle frame and added another in the third period to seal the win.

It took just over a minute into the second period for the Falcons to score the eventual game-winner as Madison Kadrlik scored her first of two goals on the night on the power play. UWRF didn't look back, with MaKenna Aure scoring under a minute later and soon after, Kadrlik scoring another to give UWRF a three-goal lead heading into the final 20 minutes.

Megan Goodreau scored a power play goal for extra insurance in the third period while the Falcons held the Yellowjackets to just a pair of shots in goal in the third period.

UWRF finished with a 46-15 lead in shots on goal while going 2-for-7 on the power play. Jordan O'Kane made 15 saves to collect her fifth shutouts of the season.

The Falcons and Yellowjackets play again tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. inside Hunt Arena. Saturday is UWRF Employee Appreciation Day (free admission to employees and their families with valid UWRF ID).
