Goodreau Hat Trick Fuels 10-1 Falcon Win

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls Falcons women's hockey turned in a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, rolling past the Cobbers 10-1 at Hunt Arena to complete the weekend sweep.

MaKenna Aure opened the scoring midway through the first period, finishing an even-strength chance at the 8:38 mark off a feed from Megan Goodreau. The Falcons carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission before breaking the game open in the second period.

UWRF scored four times in the middle frame, beginning with Goodreau's goal at 3:11. Aure added a power-play tally at 8:35, followed by an even-strength goal from Kylie Jones just 28 seconds after Concordia got on the board with their only goal of the evening. Goodreau capped the period with her second goal of the game on the power play, giving the Falcons a commanding 5-1 advantage heading into the third.

The Falcons showed no signs of slowing down in the final period, scoring five more times. Goodreau completed her hat trick just 19 seconds into the third, followed quickly by an unassisted goal from Katherine Bell. Gracyn Knowles and Sophia Hess added goals later in the period, and Alexa Niccum closed out the scoring with an even-strength tally at 16:57.

Goodreau finished the afternoon with a standout six-point performance (three goals, three assists), while Aure tallied six points of her own with two goals and four assists. Hess added a goal and two assists, and the Falcons recorded goals from seven different players.

Jordan O'Kane earned the win in net, stopping 21 shots, as the Falcons outshot the Cobbers 53-22 and went 3-for-4 on the power play. With the victory, UWRF improves to 11–1–0 on the season.

The Falcons will take on St. Catherine this Wednesday in St. Paul, puck drop at 7 p.m.
