Ingram Nets Overtime Winner as Falcons Rally Past St. Scholastica, 5-4

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team opened the 2026-27 season with a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory over St. Scholastica Saturday night at Hunt Arena. The Falcons overcame a second-period deficit and responded to a late game-tying goal before Keenan Ingram delivered the winner in overtime.

St. Scholastica struck first midway through the opening period, but the Falcons answered at the 12:24 mark when Logan Nagle finished a play started by Anthony Cappello and Garett Drotts to even the score at 1-1 heading into the first intermission. The goal was Nagle's first as a Falcon.

The Saints regained the lead on a power-play goal just over a minute into the second period and carried a 2-1 advantage into the final frame.

UW-River Falls erupted out of the locker room in the third period. Ingram tied the game just 1:43 into the period before Trace Day scored his first goal as a Falcon, unassisted, 1:05 later to give the Falcons their first lead of the night. St. Scholastica answered 36 seconds later to knot the score at 3-3, but Gavin Middendorf restored the Falcon advantage at 9:42 with his first goal of the season off assists from Drotts and Nagle.

The Falcons appeared poised to secure the win in regulation before the Saints scored with 1:04 remaining to force overtime. After successfully killing off the remainder of a St. Scholastica power play to begin the extra session, UW-River Falls capitalized on its opportunity as Ingram buried the game-winner 2:26 into overtime off assists from Ben Portner and Hunter Jones.

Ingram paced the Falcon attack with two goals, including the overtime winner. Nagle finished with a goal and an assist, while Drotts and Portner each registered two assists. Day and Middendorf also scored in the victory.

Chris Quizi earned the win in goal during his collegiate debut, stopping 32 shots. St. Scholastica held a 36-29 edge in shots, while the Falcons won 28 of 52 faceoffs. Portner led UW-River Falls with 15 faceoff wins, and Nagle added eight.

UWRF, now 1-0 overall, rounds out the non-conference series with St. Scholastica on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Hunt Arena.
