RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team dropped a 66-52 decision to UW-Stout Wednesday evening inside Don Page Arena. Tonight also marked Senior Night for
Jeremy Wanguhu,
Gavin Ralph, and
Jack Leifker, who were recognized prior to tip-off for their contributions to the Falcon program.
UW-Stout (9-15, 5-8 WIAC) jumped out early, holding the Falcons to just 18.5 percent shooting in the opening half. The Blue Devils built a double-digit lead heading into the break as UWRF went 5-of-27 from the field and 0-for-8 from three-point range in the first 20 minutes.
The Falcons found their rhythm in the second half, shooting 46.7 percent after halftime and outscoring Stout 36-35 over the final 20 minutes. However, the early lead built by the Blue Devils proved to be too much in the end.
Jack Leifker led the way with 13 points and with a team-high nine rebounds.
Jeremy Wanguhu added 11 points and three boards, while
Reid Tengblad provided production off the bench with 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
Gavin Ralph chipped in five points and three rebounds, and
Owen Havlik dished out three assists in the contest.
UW-Stout was paced by Domanyck Schwarzenberger's 19 points, including four three-pointers and AJ Uttech added 17 points and six rebounds. The Blue Devils finished the game shooting 40.3 percent from the floor and held a 44-38 advantage on the glass.
The Falcons (8-16, 3-10 WIAC) will close out the regular season on the road this weekend taking on the Warhawks in Whitewater, Wis. Tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m.
