THE SERIES
  • UWRF defeated Amherst 3-1 in last season's National Championship game at Hunt Arena to claim its second consecutive national title.
  • The Mammoths entered that contest with a 3-0 all-time record against the Falcons, with the previous meeting coming in 2012.
NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
  • The reigning back-to-back national champion Falcons are in their 17th NCAA Tournament appearance, earning an at-large bid after winning both the 2025-26 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular season and tournament titles. UWRF defeated UW-Eau Claire 4-0 to earn a seventh consecutive WIAC O'Brien Cup Tournament title.
  • The Falcons have reached the 'Frozen Four' eight times in program history (2003, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2024, 2025, 2026) and own a 17-15 overall record in the NCAA Tournament, dating back to the program's first national tournament appearance in 2003.
LAURA HURD FINALIST DUO
  • UWRF headlines the 2026 AHCA Laura Hurd Player of the Year finalist list, as Megan Goodreau and Sophia Hess were both selected as two of seven total finalists.
    • Goodreau leads the nation with 74 points on 36 goals and 38 assists, while Hess ranks second nationally with 56 points, including 26 goals and 30 assists.
  • Goodreau, the WIAC Player of the Year, became the program's all-time leading scorer this season and is one of just three players in NCAA Division III history to reach 200 career points. Hess, the WIAC Newcomer of the Year, is the nation's top-scoring freshman and ranks second on the team in all major offensive categories.
RECORD-YEAR FOR GOODREAU
  • Senior forward and co-captain Megan Goodreau has put together one of the most historic seasons in Falcon women's hockey history, rewriting both the UWRF and WIAC record books.
  • Goodreau became UWRF's all-time leading scorer during the regular season finale against UW-Eau Claire (a 6-3 UWRF win to clinch the WIAC regular season title), passing former Laura Hurd Award winner Callie Hoff while becoming just the third student-athlete in NCAA Division III women's hockey history to reach the 200-career-point milestone.
  • Her 74 points and 36 goals not only lead NCAA Division III this season, but also broke UWRF and WIAC single-season records. Her 17 power-play goals are also a UWRF and WIAC record and are currently tied for the NCAA Division III single-season record.
  • A three-time WIAC Player of the Week, Goodreau has recorded six multi-goal games this season, including three hat tricks. Her four-goal performance against Saint Mary's tied a UWRF single-game record.
FALCONS' HIGH-FLYING ATTACK
  • The Falcons entered the NCAA Tournament ranked first in the NCAA Power Index, earning the top seed in the bracket, and have held the No. 1 spot all season in the USCHO and DIII Hockey News national polls. UWRF leads NCAA Division III in scoring at 5.2 goals per game with a +4.2 scoring margin, and boasts the nation's top power play at 45.5% (45 goals), while also allowing just 1.0 goal per game defensively (3rd/NCAA).
  • Senior forward Megan Goodreau leads NCAA Division III with 74 points (36g, 38a), while freshman Sophia Hess ranks second nationally with 56 points (26g, 30a). MaKenna Aure leads all Division III defensemen in scoring with 39 points (14g, 25a) and surpassed 100 career points earlier this season.

O'KANE ANCHORS THE CREASE

  • Senior goaltender Jordan O'Kane recorded a career-high 37 saves in a 1-0 shutout win over Williams College in the NCAA Quarterfinals, marking her eighth shutout of the season and tying the UWRF single-season record. She also set program and WIAC records with 24 wins, posting a 24-1 record on the year.
  • O'Kane leads NCAA Division III with eight shutouts and a .960 winning percentage, while ranking among the national leaders with a 1.00 goals against average (4th) and a .948 save percentage (top 10). She was named to the All-WIAC First Team.
SCOUTING THE MAMMOTHS
  • Amherst College earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 1-0 shutout of Colby in the NESCAC Championship, marking its 11th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.
  • The two-time national champion Mammoths (2009, 2010) finished as the national runner-up last season and advanced back to the semifinals with a 3-0 win over Elmira in the quarterfinals.
  • Amherst own the top defense in the nation, allowing just 0.69 goals per game, led by senior goaltender Natalie Stott, who ranks first nationally with a 0.63 goals against average, a .973 save percentage, and 12 shutouts.
