STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The UW-River Falls baseball team swept their WIAC doubleheader against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 and 10-4. UWRF improves to 13-11 overall and 7-7 in WIAC play. The Falcons are back at First National Bank of River Falls Field on Wednesday to host UW-Superior.

Shaun Gavin threw a 119-pitch complete-game shutout as the offense scratched across three runs on three hits to secure a victory in game one on Saturday.

After two scoreless frames, a Pioneer error led to a Tanner Hraby two-run home run, giving the Falcons a 2-0 advantage.

UWRF added to their lead in the sixth with a Daniel Kibler RBI groundout, scoring Hraby.

Gavin kept Stevens Point off balance all game, striking out six and allowing just four baserunners on two hits, one walk, and one hit batter. His six strikeouts give him 53 strikeouts for his career, becoming the first Falcon to reach 50 career strikeouts since the return of the program in 2025.

River Falls played an error-free defensive game, helping earn their second shutout of the season.

UW-River Falls 10, UW-Stevens Point 4
UWRF completed the sweep in game two with a strong all-around performance, taking three of four games in the series against Stevens Point.

The Falcons jumped ahead in the second inning, scoring three runs on four hits and a Pointer error.

Stevens Point scored their first run of the day in the second to respond, but UWRF extended its lead in the third. A two-RBI single from JV Castillo pushed the Falcon lead to 5-1.

River Falls stayed hot offensively in the fourth, highlighted by a Daniel Kibler single that drove in two.

UWSP attempted a comeback in the fifth, as the first three batters reached base and eventually scored. However, the Pointers' comeback was halted by the Falcon bullpen, as Cole Scheel, Isaac Mens, and Parker Nedland combined for five scoreless innings in relief.

Castillo and Kibler were the tandem powering the UWRF offense. Kibler had a 4-4 game, with two RBIs and four runs scored. Castillo was 3-4 with four RBIs and one run scored.

The Falcons never trailed in either game and recorded 16 shutout innings out of the 18 played.
