WACONIA, Minn. — The UW-River Falls women's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep over Crown College on Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, the Falcons' overall record improved to 5-15, and 2-3 this spring.
The Falcons controlled the match from the outset, earning the doubles point with victories at all three positions. Sydney Wiener and Sarah Baker set the tone with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Audrey Ladewig and Hailey Reuvers battled to a 7-5 decision at No. 2. Mykela Hanson and Emma Yanish completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory at No. 3.
UWRF carried that momentum into singles play, capturing all six matches in straight sets. Wiener led the way at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-0 win, and Baker followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2.
Ladewig secured the match-clinching point at No. 3 singles, earning a 6-4, 6-4 decision. Hanson was dominant at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep, while Yanish added a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5. Felicity Fischer rounded out the lineup with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 6.
