MANKATO, Minn. — The UW-River Falls women's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep at Bethany Lutheran College on Friday afternoon, their second sweep of the week.
The Falcons previously swept Crown College on the road this past Wednesday, and with today's win their overall record improved to 6-15 and 3-3 this spring. Up next, the Falcons will host UW-Stout on Saturday inside Knowles Fieldhouse at 10 a.m.
UWRF secured the doubles point by winning two of three matches. Sydney Wiener and Sarah Baker battled to a 7-6 (7-5) victory at No. 1 doubles, while Audrey Ladewig and Hailey Reuvers picked up a win by default at No. 3. Bethany Lutheran's lone doubles win came at No. 2.
The Falcons carried that momentum into singles play, claiming all six matches. Wiener rallied after dropping the opening set to earn a 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (super tiebreak) victory at No. 1, while Baker added a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2.
Ladewig secured a straight-set win at No. 3 with a 7-5, 6-4 decision, and Reuvers matched that effort with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Hanson and Yanish rounded out the lineup with wins by default at No. 5 and No. 6.
