The Falcons battled with the top-five-ranked Warhawks before getting overmatched late, dropping game one 9-3.

UWRF took its first lead of the series in the second inning on a Carter Klein sacrifice fly, giving the Falcons a 1-0 edge.

Two River Falls errors put the Warhawks in position to take the lead in the fourth, as they recorded a pair of hits to score two runs. A single and a double plated another run in the fifth.

Andrew Athmann doubled home Kaleb Zabielski to cut the Whitewater lead to one. Athmann later scored on a groundout to tie the game.

The tie was short-lived, as Whitewater continued to build its lead with two runs in the sixth, one in the seventh, and three in the eighth to secure the 9-3 win.

Brett Sullivan started on the mound for the Falcons, throwing five strong innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out two.

Athmann and Hudson Wagner led the offense, combining for five of the Falcons' seven hits.
