GREENSBORO, N.C. — The American Baseball Coaches Association announced the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region Teams on Tuesday, May 26, with UWRF sophomore catcher Andrew Athmann earning Region IX Third Team honors.

All-Region selections across 10 regions were voted on by members of the ABCA and coordinated by the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America and Coach of the Year Committee.

A native of Shakopee, Minn., Athmann appeared in 41 games during the 2026 season, sharing the team lead in appearances as one of the Falcons' most consistent offensive and defensive contributors. He led the team with 32 RBI and 15 doubles while batting .317 with 46 hits in 145 at bats. Athmann added two triples and two home runs offensively while establishing himself as one of the WIAC's top defensive catchers, leading the conference with 22 runners caught stealing.

With the selection, Athmann becomes just the fifth ABCA All-Region honoree in program history and the first Falcon to earn the distinction since 2002.

The Falcons finished the 2026 campaign with a 21-21 overall record and a 13-15 mark in WIAC play, good for fourth place in the conference standings and the program's first berth in the WIAC Tournament since the league introduced postseason play in 1998. UWRF also posted a 10-7 home record at First National Bank of River Falls Field and secured its first WIAC Tournament victory on May 7 with a 13-4 win over nationally ranked and top-seeded UW-Whitewater.
