Falcons Set for WIAC Baseball Tournament Debut at No. 1 UW-Whitewater

The UW-River Falls baseball team travels to Whitewater, Wis., for the 2026 WIAC Tournament beginning on Thursday, May 7. The No. 4 seeded Falcons take on the No. 1 seed UW-Whitewater at 12 p.m.

  • The WIAC announced a new pay-per-view model for its 2025-26 championships and tournaments, including the baseball postseason. FALCON NOTES

  • The Falcons split with UW-Eau Claire last weekend to earn the No. 4 seed in the WIAC Tournament. Their appearance marks the first in program history since the conference postseason format was introduced in 1998.
  • Max Krebs is the reigning WIAC Player of the Week after hitting .800 (12-for-15) with multi-hit performances in all four games. He hit a grand slam on Saturday, finishing the week with seven RBIs and six runs scored while posting a .812 OBP, 1.200 SLG, and 2.012 OPS.
  • The UWRF offense has also been led by sophomores Tanner Hraby and Andrew Athmann. Hraby leads the team with 53 hits, five home runs, and 32 runs scored, while Athmann is tied with Krebs for the team lead with 14 doubles and has a team-high 32 RBIs. Hraby, Krebs, and Athmann have each scored more than 30 runs.
  • UWRF ranks among the top three in the WIAC in triples, hit-by-pitches, and stolen bases, including 92 stolen bases (3rd/WIAC). Krebs leads the team with 14 steals (T-9th/WIAC). The Falcons have also been hit by 65 pitches (2nd/WIAC), led by Kaleb Zabielski (15) and Athmann (11), both of whom rank in the top six in the conference.
  • Falcon pitching is led by Shaun Gavin, who ranks in the top 10 in the conference in wins (4), ERA (3.29), and innings pitched (52.0). Brayden Ramus has been the team's top bullpen arm, posting a 1.71 ERA in 21 innings and not allowing an earned run over his last eight innings.
