Volleyball Splits Day Two of Falcon Invite

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team closed the Falcon Invite with a 3-0 sweep of Concordia University Wisconsin before falling to Bethel University in straight sets Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons finished the weekend 2-1 to improve to 5-2 on the season.

Emily Brenner and Blessing Adebisi were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Brenner earning Falcon Invite Most Outstanding Player honors. Brenner hit .280 with 38 kills across three matches. Junior setter Cora Sayotovich also reached a career milestone, surpassing 1,000 assists.

Up next, UWRF is set to compete at the UW-Superior Stinger Classic, Sept. 18-19 in Superior, Wis.

UW-River Falls 3, Concordia Wisconsin 0
UWRF opened Saturday with a 25-18, 25-22, 25-22 sweep of Concordia Wisconsin, finishing with 41 kills, a .216 hitting percentage, 10 service aces and 13 total blocks. The Falcons held CUW to a .123 attack percentage.

Brenner led all players with 14 kills and added 10 digs. Adebisi hit .467 with eight kills on 15 attacks while contributing three solo blocks and three block assists. Amanda Baumann added five kills on 10 attacks without an error for a .500 hitting percentage, while Ava Goldsberry finished with six kills.

Sayotovich directed the offense with 20 assists, while Olivia Noble added 14. Audrey Petersen led the Falcons with 13 digs.

Bethel 3, UW-River Falls 0

Bethel ended the Falcons' three-match winning streak with a 25-17, 25-22, 25-21 sweep in UWRF's final match of the weekend.

The Royals hit .252 as a team and recorded 46 kills while limiting UWRF to a .163 hitting percentage. The Falcons' strongest offensive showing came in the second set, when they recorded 15 kills and hit .268, but Bethel pulled away late to take a 2-0 lead.

Brenner paced UWRF with 13 kills and 17 digs for a double-double. Baumann added seven kills on 16 attempts without an error, hitting .438, while Goldsberry and Sarah Miller also recorded seven kills apiece. Miller added three block assists.

Petersen anchored the defense with a match-high 20 digs, while Sayotovich and Noble combined for 28 assists. Sayotovich added seven digs and an ace, and Lauren Noth finished with eight digs, three kills and an ace.
