Jake Wissing wrapped up his 13th season with UWRF football and his fourth as defensive coordinator in 2024, helping lead the Falcons to their fourth-straight winning season with 30 victories since 2021 with back-to-back Isthmus Bowl titles in 2021 & 2022. In 2021, Wissing was named the Wisconsin Football Coaches' Association (WFCA) Assistant Coach of the Year.

In his previous nine seasons, Wissing served as the UWRF offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He is also the program’s assistant head coach.

Under Wissing's leadership the Falcons averaged nearly 330 yards of total offense a game in his tenure as the offensive coordinator from 2011-19. In 2019, the Falcon Offense re-wrote much of the school record book with new all-time marks for Total Offense (4,407), Pass Offense (3,252), and First Downs (227) in a season. The Falcons led the WIAC in Total Offense and senior quarterback, Ben Beckman, led the league in passing yards and individual total offense on his way to having the most prolific quarterback season in school history.

Under Wissing, the Falcons produced the school’s first 3,000 yard passer (Ben Beckman in 2019) and added another 1,000 yard rusher to the long Falcon rushing history when Taylor Edwards rushed for 1,109 yards in 2011 on his way to earning 1st team all-conference honors.

Wissing has coached 15 offensive players to All-WIAC honors in his career. Since 2021, he's led 26 defensive players to All-WIAC honors, including 2022 All-American defensive back Michael Brown.

Before UWRF, Wissing was the offensive coordinator at the University of the South in 2010. The Tigers doubled their rushing yards in 2010, averaging 131 yards a game, under Wissing’s leadership. He was also the team’s recruiting coordinator.

Wissing also coached for three seasons at DePauw University. He was the team’s offensive line coach, and co-recruiting coordinator, from 2007-09 and worked under current Falcon Head Coach Matt Walker.  The Tigers were 23-7 in his three years as an assistant coach. The 2009 team finished 7-3, won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Div. III playoffs for the first time in school history.

Wissing has also coached at Saint Joseph’s College (2006), Norwich University (2005) and Alfred University (2003-04). He earned his undergraduate degree from DePauw in 2003 and his master’s degree from Alfred University in 2005.

Jake resides in River Falls with his wife Kelsea and their two daughters, Tennyson and Emerson.
