Gooding begins his first season with UW-River Falls as the Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach. He comes to the Falcons with coaching stops in Division I, Division II, NAIA, and High School Football.
Gooding is coming to UW-River Falls from Cathedral High School in El Paso, TX, where he was the Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach. At Cathedral, he mentored a 1st Team All-State Offensive Lineman and helped take a program that had finished winless the year before his arrival to the Texas State Playoffs.
Prior to his time in Texas, Gooding coached at Division II, University of Minnesota-Crookston where he served as the Offensive Line, Tight Ends, and Running Backs Coach. In addition to these on-field duties, Gooding was the Recruiting Coordinator, helping a rebuilding program capture its first conference victory in nearly three years. Before his time at Crookston, he spent a year coaching Running Backs and serving as the Recruiting Coordinator at Southwest Minnesota State with UWRF Offensive Coordinator, Joe Matheson.
Before his time in Division II, Gooding coached in the NAIA at Dakota State in Madison, SD. In his two years there, the DSU offense shattered nearly every school record and led the conference in almost every category while spending six weeks nationally ranked, peaking at #18 in the NAIA Coaches Poll. As the Offensive Line Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, and Tight Ends Coach, Gooding coached six All-Conference selections.
Gooding began his career in college football as a student assistant at the University of Illinois, working with the defensive staff. In his three years with the team, Illinois improved in wins every year, culminating in a Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl berth. Gooding graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Secondary Education minor.
He received a Master of Science in Educational Technology from Dakota State University.
