Sarah Fern enters her sith season as the UWRF assistant softball coach in 2020-21.
Fern, a 2013 graduate of UW-Eau Claire, began her career at UW-River Falls before transferring to UW-Eau Claire where she finished out her career as a first baseman for the Blugolds. She was named to the first All-WIAC in 2009, 2010, and 2013. In 2009, she was named the NFCA First Team All-Great Lakes Region First Basemen and then again in 2013 was named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region.Â
While at UWEC, she was a member of two WIAC Conference Championship teams and participated in three NCAA Softball Championships. During her senior year, she was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week.Â
Fern finished her career with a .371 batting average and ranks in many WIAC career and single season records.Â
Since graduating, Fern was an assistant coach at Millikin University and SUNY-Plattsburgh. While at Millikin, Fern helped oversee all facets of the softball program including fundraising, recruiting, development of a strength and conditioning program and scouting and video breakdown. She helped the offense break a single season school homerun record. During the 2014-2015 season, Fern was a member of the Cardinal coaching staff at SUNY-Plattsburgh. While there her primary role was overseeing infield defense and team offense.
Fern earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in sports performance.
