The UW-River Falls volleyball team opened the Trick or Treat Classic at home in the Karges Gymnasiun with a sweeping victory over Waldorf College. Game scores were 25-9, 25-15 and 25-18.
The Falcons fired 42 kills during the contest. They finished with a strong kill percentage in each of the three sets. In set one they killed .333 of attempted attacks, in set two, .484 and in set three a very strong .545.
They were lead by Danielle Gibbemeyer (St. Paul, MN, Cretin-Derham Hall) who had 12 kills throughout the match. Teammate Jean Theis (Shakopee, MN, Shakopee) finished with 11 and a .733 kill percentage.
Setter Mackenzie Suda (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) had 39 assists and 3 service aces to aide the Falcon attack. Overall, the Falcons had 10 aces in the match.
Courtney Preiner (Oakdale, MN, Hill-Murray) helped to stop Waldorf's attack with nine digs. Meanwhile Gibbemeyer chipped in seven.

In the second match of the day, UWRF defeated Concordia University of Wisconsin in four sets. Game scores were 25-19, 22-25, 27-25 and 25-14.
The Falcons continued their potent hitting attack, like in match one, to stop Concordia, tallying 60 kills in the match.
Theis lead the Falcons with 18 kills while Erin Green (Fridley, MN, Fridley) finished with 17. Gibbemeyer added 14.
Suda finished with 60 set assists on the evening, while Preiner contributed 30 digs.
The Falcons had nine ace blocks in all. Theis finished with four and Liz Braun (Racine, WI, St. Catherine's) added three.
Sami Kaminski (Weyerhaeuser, WI, Weyerhaeuser) had four of UWRF's seven service aces.
The Falcons improve to 18-13 overall. Up next for the Falcons as they continue the Trick or Treat Classic is a matchup against conference foes UW-Stout at 10 a.m. followed by UW-Superior at 2. The action takes place in the Karges gymnasium.
