Men's Hockey Defeated in Weekend Series at St. Norbert

The Falcon men's hockey team was defeated by the Green Knights of St. Norbert College at Cornerstone Arena in Green Bay by a score of 2-1 on Saturday night.

UWRF was back on the ice looking to rebound from a disappointing 3-1 loss against the Green Knights on Friday night. Despite their efforts, the #3 ranked Green Knights and runner-ups for the DIII NCAA Championship last season were too much to handle.

The first goal of the game came from Green Knight Mike Bernardy at 06:35 in the first period. The goal was the result of a power play opportunity following a cross checking penalty on Tad Norris (Snowmass, CO, Kenai River, NAHL). Norris' penalty was one of many, as both teams tallied a combined 22 penalties throughout the matchup. Assisting Bernardy on his second goal of the season was Nick Tabisz and Brandon Hoogenboom. Bernardy's first goal of the season also came against the Falcons on their matchup on Friday night.

Scoring the game winner and extending the St. Norbert lead by two was Kyle Stroh at 08:26 in the first period. Stroh was assisted by Johan Ryd and Tabisz.

Both St. Norbert goals were scored against veteran Falcon goaltender Eric Babcook (Centennial, CO, Canmore, AJHL). Babcook received his first start since Nov. 5 when he forced Augsburg College into a 2-2 overtime tie. Replacing Babcook following Stroh's goal was Scott Lewan (Westland, MI, Alberni Valley, BCHL). The freshman continued his impressive debut season as he shut down the high-powered Green Knight offense for the remainder of the game, making 19 saves in the process.

Scoring the only Falcon goal of the game was Sean Roadhouse (Tulsa, OK, Texas, NAHL). Roadhouse's goal was the first of his season and came 32 seconds into the opening of the second period. Assisting Roadhouse was Justin Brossman (Littleton, CO, Sioux City, USHL) and John Bullis (Frisco, TX, Texas, NAHL).

UWRF now holds a record of 3-5-1 on the season, going 2-4 in NCHA conference play. The Falcons look to break their three game losing streak on the night of Dec. 3 when they host Lake Forest College at Hunt Arena for a weekend series. UWRF holds a cumulative record of 46-5-7 against the Foresters. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:05 p.m.
