Katie Batters (Champlin, MN, Champlin Park HS) finds the back of the net twice and the Falcon defense allowed only nine St. Norbert shots as the Falcons rolled to their 13th straight win in a row Friday night on the road in DePere, Wis.
After a scoreless first period, the Falcons struck fast and hard, scoring three goals in the second. Batters sixth goal of the season put the Falcons up 1-0 2:21 into the period. Alyssa Black (Mankato, MN, West HS) and Judy Daleiden (Blaine, MN, Blaine HS) assisted on the play. Kait Mason (Eagan, MN, Eagan HS) tallied the Falcons' second goal of the evening, assisted by Lauren Conrad (Lino Lakes, MN, Centennial HS), at 5:28. It was her fifth goal of the season. Batters second goal of the game, and seventh of the season, put the Falcons up 3-0 16:23 into the middle frame. Black and Breanne Hrabe (New Prague, MN, New Prague HS) assisted.
The Green Knights broke up Melissa Deardorff's (Anchorage, AK, Anchorage North Stars) shutout bid with a goal at 2:37 of the third period from Alexa Jacobson. Deardorff ended up stopping nine of 10 Green Knight shots on the evening en route to her sixth win of the season. She is now 6-0-0 on the campaign.
Penalties wore down the Green Knights. They found themselves in the box seven times for 14 minutes. The Falcons only committed two penalties for four minutes. Each team did not score on the skater advantage. The Falcons outshot SNC in each period - 12-3, 18-2 and 12-5 for a 42-10 final advantage.
The two teams meet again Saturday afternoon for the rubber match. Puck drops at 2 p.m., at St. Norbert.
