Volleyball Team Loses, 3-1, at Augsburg

Green Leads UWRF With 10 Kills, Eight Block Assists

Despite a 10 kill and eight block assist performance by Erin Green (Fridley, MN, Fridley), the Falcon volleyball team lost a 3-1 match at Augsburg on Tuesday evening.

The Auggies won, 28-26, 25-12, 16-25, 25-14, which gives the Falcons a 2-3 overall record this year.

UWRF did not hit well in this match. The finished with a .023 hitting percentage. They also had 10 service errors and nine reception errors.

Jean Theis (Shakopee, MN, Shakopee) had eight kills and two block assists while Kayla Slaikeu (Eagan, MN, Eagan) finished with six kills and two block assists. Courtney Preiner (Oakdale, MN, Hill-Murray) led the team with 17 digs and she is averaging 4.5 digs a set this year. Mackenzie Suda (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) led the team with 20 assists and three service aces. Danielle Gibbemeyer (St. Paul, MN, Cretin-Derham Hall) had 12 digs, three kills and two block assists.

Augsburg was led by Colleen Ourada who had 17 kills. The Auggies are now 4-1 this year.

UWRF will next play in the Bethel University Tournament this weekend. On Friday they face Northland at 4 p.m., and Carleton at 6 p.m. On Saturday the Falcons play Martin Luther at 10 a.m., and Bethel at noon.
