Box Score

The UW-River Falls Falcons were at UW-Superior for the second game of the weekend double header.  UWS won the game by a score of 2-1.

Freshman goalie Gillian McDonald played a strong game in what was only her second career start. She recorded 26 saves in the game.

The only goal of the game for the Falcons came from Alyssa Black in the first period. It came at 10:55 into the period and was assisted by Alice Cranston and Chloe Kinsel. This was Black's second goal of the season.

The Falcons went scoreless in the second period only recording six shots. At 16:05 into the second period UWS scored on a power play goal by Chelsey Wierschem.

UWS again scored in the third period off the Haley Olmstead goal. The goal came at 7:08 into the period. The two teams battled hard in the third period with UWRF getting 11 shots and UWS answering with 13 of their own.

When asked after the game UWRF coach Joe Cranston said, “We ran into a team with its back against the wall, and UWS came out and played a great game. We played hard, and just could not buy a goal late in the game to tie it up.”

UWS goalie Shanley Peters was a big reason for this as she recorded 25 saves in the game and stopped all 11 of UWRF shots in the third period.

Senior captain Amanda Ryder led UWRF in shots today with five.

UWRF will continue action against UW-Eau Claire on Friday, Nov. 16 at Hunt Arena with the puck set to drop at 7 p.m.
