UWRF Tops SNC 3-1 After Fast Start

UW-River Falls beat St. Norbert College tonight after a fast start in which they scored two goals within the first five minutes of the game.

The first goal of the game came when Katie Batters scored her seventh goal of the season. She was assisted on the play by Amanda Ryder and Leah Gefroh at 4:06 into the first period.

Shortly after Chloe Kinsel scored at 4:31 into the first period off the Alyssa Jackson assist. The goal was Kinsel's ninth of the season.

SNC answered with a power play goal at 8:49 of the first period. Danielle Rozon scored the goal. Henriette Ostergaard and Myranda Hayes were credited with the assists on the play.

This was the only power play goal of the game. SNC went 1-6 on power play opportunities and UWRF went 0-5 on their chances.

Neither team scored in the second period despite UWRF having 18 shots on goal and SNC having eight shots on goal. Overall in the game the Falcons out shot SNC with 51 total shots compared to SNC having 20 shots.

SNC goalie Kaley Gibson recorded 48 saves in the game and UWRF goalie Gillian McDonald recorded 19 saves only allowing the one goal.

The final goal of the game was scored by Kait Mason on an unassisted shorthanded goal. This was her eight goal of the season.

UWRF who is ranked fifth in the nation now moves to 8-4-2 and will play at SNC again tomorrow.
