Men's Hockey Falls to St. Scholastica

The UW-River Falls Falcons six game win streak came to an end tonight after losing 5-2 to the College of St. Scholastica Saints.

CSS scored first at 4:37 into the first period off of a Paul Marcoux goal. He was assisted by Brenden Kotyk and Dylan Nowakowski.

Zach Schrotenboer lit the lamp at 12:32 of the first period to tie the game. This was his seventh goal of the season. Bill Simon recorded his third assist of the season on the play.

The Saints scored one more time in the first period when Dave Williams scored the only power play goal of the game at 14:52 into the period.

Brandon Nowakowski scored at 5:06 into the second period to give themselves a two goal lead. This was the only goal scored in the second period.

The Saints goalie Tyler Bruggeman finished the game with 25 saves. Scottie Lewan who has started every game in net for the Falcons recorded 27 saves in the game.

Willie Hess scored on a goal right in front of the net to make an attempt at the comeback for UWRF. 

Blake Huppert and Tyler Briola were each credited with assists on the play.

CSS scored two more goals in the third to ensure victory. The final goal of the game came with three seconds left when Paul Marcoux scored on the empty net goal.

UWRF falls to 10-6-2 overall on the season and CSS moves to 6-11-0 overall on the season.

These two teams will meet again tomorrow night at Hunt Arena with the puck set to drop at 7:05 p.m.
