Men's Hockey Rallies in Third Period to Finish in 3-3 Tie - Video Added

Adam Cardwell, Zach Schrotenboer, and Blake Huppert all scored third period goals to help UW-River Falls rally in the third period after trailing by three goals to tie the game 3-3 at home against the College of St. Scholastica tonight.

The game would finish in a tie as neither team was able to score again after the UWRF rally.

The Saints dominated the first period with 18 shots on net. The Falcons would only get off five shots in the first period.

CSS scored early in the game as a Dave Williams slap shot found the back of the net at 1:07 into the first period.

CSS would add two more first period goals at 14:57 and 16:45 to give themselves the three goal lead.

Neither team allowed a second period goal. UWRF goalie Scott Lewan did not allow another goal after the first period and finished with 31 total saves. CSS goalie Tyler Bruggeman finished with 21 saves in the game.

UWRF came fighting back in the third period scoring the three goals and only allowing four total shots on goal. They finished with 24 total shots in the game. CSS had 34 shots on goal in the game.

The first Falcon goal of the third period was scored by Cardwell on a power play goal. The goal came at 3:02 into the period and was Cardwell's 11th goal of the season. He was assisted by Willie Hess on the play.

Just over three minutes later the Schrotenboer would score the second Falcon goal for his eighth of the season.

The final goal of the game was scored when George Malliaras connected with Huppert to tie the game. Malliaras now has 11 assists on the season and Huppert now has four goals.

UWRF is now 10-6-3 overall on the season and 3-6-3 in NCHA conference play. They will play next on Friday January 25 at home against UW-Stevens Point and Saturday at home against St. Norbert College. The puck is set to drop at 7:05 p.m. for both games.
