Volleyball Wins in Five Sets over Stout - Video Added

Team Wins Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Match

The UW-River Falls Falcon volleyball team won a close match over the UW-Stout Blue Devils in five sets for their Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Match.

UWRF dropped the first set 25-18, but bounced back to win the second set 25-19. Stout kept the back and forth play going by winning the third set 25-20. The Falcons won a close fourth set 25-21 and finished with a 15-8 win in the final set to take the victory.

UWRF had a balanced effort all evening. Jean Theis led with 12 kills followed by Lisa Keppers with 11, Brianna Muetzel added eight and Rebecca Gasper had seven. Theis, Keppers, and Muetzel all also had three blocks in the match. Overall UWRF hit a .271 in the match.

Raven Klein had a team high 37 assists in the match and Lexi Pingel had a team high 15 digs. Muetzel rounded out her complete night with 14 digs.

With the victory UWRF improves to 16-11 overall on the season and 3-3 in the WIAC.  With only two WIAC games left on the season UWRF has improved their chance to secure a top six spot in the WIAC with a two game lead over the seventh place team, UW-Platteville.  The top six teams advance to the WIAC Tournament.

UWRF will play their next game at Platteville on Friday with the match set to start at 7 p.m.
