Katie Batters had an assist and the game winning goal in the UW-River Falls 5-4 victory over UW-Eau Claire in the first round game of the NCHA play-off game. A win or tie tomorrow now moves them onto the NCHA semi-final game next weekend.

In the first period UWRF played great defense not allowing a single shot on goal. Leah Gefroh scored the first goal of the game at 4:56 of the first period  on a power play goal. Brook Story was credited with the assist on the play.
Chloe Kinsel scored her 17^th goal of the season at 16:24 of the first period to give the Falcons the 2-0 lead.

UWEC scored on their first shot on goal at 7:06 of the second period on a power play goal. They finished the game 2-6 on power play attempts and UWRF finished 4-6 on their power play chances.

Alice Cranston scored at 11:41 on a power play goal and Crysta Lowell scored at 13:17 on another power play goal.

Emily Larson of UWEC scored at 14:03 to move within two goals of the Falcons going into the third period.
The Blugolds scored two quick third period goals to tie the game 4-4.

Ashley Kuchle was pulled after the two early goals and finished the game with eight saves. Gillian McDonald finished the game in net with three saves.

Batters scored the game winning goal at 14:21 on a power play goal that would end up being the game winning goal.

These two teams will play again tomorrow afternoon with the puck set to drop at 2:05 p.m.
