Women's Hockey Wins 5-2 to Advance to NCHA Semi-Finals

Cranston Scores Two Goals, Assist in Win

Alice Cranston scored two goals and an assist in UW-River Falls 5-2 victory over UW-Eau Claire to move the Falcons onto the NCHA semi-finals.

UWRF jumped out to an early lead at 4:13 of the first period when Crysta Lowell found Alyssa Jackson for the goal.

At 9:06 into the first period Brook Story scored a power play goal right in front of the net for her 10th goal of the season.

UWEC scored toward the end of the first period at 18:31 when  Tory Heller found the back of the net for her first of two goals in the game.

Cranston scored the only second period goal off of the Kait Mason assist. The Cranston, Mason combination scored three goals for the Falcons in the game as they both scored in the third period to seal the 5-2 win.

Gillian McDonald played goalie for UWRF recording 17 saves in the game.

With the win UWRF will host the semi finals and finals of the NCHA O'Brien Cup. They will play Friday night against UW-Stevens Point with the puck set to drop at 7:05 p.m.
