Volleyball With Two Wins at the Illinois College Tournament Today

Theis Named the Tournament MVP

The UW-River Falls volleyball team was in action again today at the Illinois College Tournament. They won both their matches in three sets today over Illinois College and Aurora University. Alyssa Anderson was named to the All-Tourney team and Jean Theis was named the MVP of the tourney.

The set scores in the win over Illinois were 25-15, 25-15, and 25-22.

 Theis led the way with 11 kills and Hali Tasler added six kills. Anderson had 35 set assists. The defense played strong with 74 total digs. Lexi Pingel led 17, Michaela Piechowski had 16, and #Brianna Muetzel and Tasler each had 12.

"We played very solid volleyball today," said Falcon head coach Patti Ford.  "Our defense kept us competitive and we were able to convert and score in transition."

The set scores in the match against Aurora were 25-22, 25-16 and 25-12.

UWRF had a balanced attack with Theis having 11 kills, Tasler having 10, Rebecca Gasper having nine, and Lisa Keppers adding eight. Anderson added 28 set assists. Anderson also contributed to the balanced defense with 12 digs. Tasler led with 13 digs, and Kadi Brooks had 12 digs.

UWRF now has an overall record of 3-1 after the Tournament. They will continue play at the Hamline Tournament next weekend on September 6-7.
