Volleyball Splits Second Day at Gustavus Tournament

After dropping both games in the Gustavus Adolphus Tournament yesterday the UW-River Falls Falcons split this morning. They started off by winning in three sets over Central College. They then fell to Augsburg College in four sets after winning the first set.

River Falls 3, Central 0

The set scores in the match were 25-22, 25-15, and 27-25.

Lisa Keppers had a strong offensive match for UWRF hitting a .500 and having 17 kills which was over double what any other player had in the game. Jean Theis and Hali Tasler each had eight kills. As a team the Falcons hit .232 in the match. Alyssa Anderson had 25 set assists and Raven Kline had 15 in the match. The UWRF defense had 60 digs led by Kline who had 16 and Tasler and Lexi Pingel each having 13.

Augsburg 3, River Falls 1

The set scores in the Augsburg match were 25-16, 25-18,  25-15, and 25-15.

Brianna Muetzel had a strong match for UWRF with seven kills and 11 digs. Theis had eight kills and hit a .292. Pingel led the defense with 13 of the team total 51 digs. Augsburg's Ashley Peper had 19 kills in the game and a hit a .378 which led all players in the match.

The Falcons are now 9-4 on the season and will open up WIAC play Wednesday night at UW-Superior with the match set to start at 7 p.m.
