The Falcon volleyball team lost for the first time this year in a WIAC match, 3-0, at UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday night.
This is the first time this year that the Falcons have lost a match, 3-0. UWEC won, 25-16, 26-24, 25-17.
In the first set the Falcons scored the first point, but then the Blugolds scored the next seven to take control. In a very close second set, the Falcons held the lead until UWEC tied the match at 13-13. UWRF scored three of the next four points to take a 16-14 lead. With the score tied at 24-24, UWEC won the match on a Falcon service error and an attack error. In the final set the scored was tied, 12-12, before UWEC scored five straight points to take a 17-12 lead. Later Eau Claire scored four straight points to take a 23-14 lead.
Middle hitters
Jean Theis and
Lisa Keppers led the Falcons with seven kills each. UWRF hit just .108 in the match whle UWEC finished with a .228 hitting pecentage.
Lexi Pingel led the Falcons with 12 digs while
Alyssa Anderson led the team with 17 assists.
The Falcons, now 11-5 overall and 2-1 in the WIAC, will next play on Oct. 4 when they host Oshkosh in a WIAC match that starts at 7 p.m., at the Karges Center.
