Volleyball Wins Two Matches to go Undefeated This Weekend

Pingel Named to All-Tournament Team

The UW-River Falls Falcon volleyball team finished off a strong weekend with two more wins in the Hamline Tournament over Crown College and St. Catherine University. With the two wins the Falcons went undefeated in the tournament to go along with what has already been a big weekend for them. Last night head coach Patti Ford won her 500th career game.

"We had a great weekend. This is a team with a lot of talent and potential," said Ford. "It was a very special weekend, reaching the 500 career win milestone is a tribute to all the players, managers, coaches and Falcon volleyball supporters who have been instrumental in achieving the successes over the past years. I am grateful and blessed to have been in such great company along the way.

River Falls 3, Crown 0

The scores in the Crown match were 25-8, 25-8, 25-12. Raven Kline had a strong performance for the Falcons leading in assists with 22 and having seven digs. Jean Theis had another good all-around match with four kills, two aces and three blocks. Lisa Kepper led UWRF in kills with seven and also had two blocks.

River Falls 3, St. Catherine,1

The scores in the St. Catherine match were 23-25, 25-16, 25-11, and 25-22.
Klein had another good match for UWRF leading in assists with 32 to go along with 15 digs. Lexi Pingel led the team in digs with 22. Pingel was named to the all tournament team.   Hali Tasler had 17 digs in the match. Rebecca Gasper had a strong match with 10 kills to go along with one solo block and three assisted blocks.

With the four wins this weekend UWRF now moves to 7-1 this season and have won seven straight matches. They will have a rematch with St. Catherine when they travel there Wednesday, September 11th with the match set to start at 7 p.m.
