The UW-River Falls Falcons (1-4) fell at the UW-Platteville Pioneers (4-1) 24-14 this afternoon. 

Andy Puccini led Platteville all afternoon long with 119 rush yards and scored all three of the teams touchdowns. His first touchdown came at the end of the first quarter when he plunged into the endzone for a three yard run capping off a nine play 59 yard drive that took 2:45 off the clock. 

UWRF ran a triple option wishbone offense for the majority of the afternoon. Rance Ashley gained 80 yards rushing on the day on 18 carries while quarterback Ryan Kusilek ran for 48 yards. Five other Falcons all got carries in the game.

After a bad punt early in the second quarter the Falcons got the ball at the Pioneers 34 yard line to start their drive. After a pass interference call and a big 14 yard rush by Kusilek UWRF was able to get the ball to the UWP seven yard line before a Kusilek fumble killed the drive. 

With just over four minutes left in the half Andy Lundgren came up with a big interception for the Falcons where they took over at their own 14 yard line. Lundgren finished the game with seven tackles and the interception. Robbie Flom led the defense with 10 tackles while Kyle Kittel had seven and Tyler Ledbeter had six rounding a strong day for the secondary. 

UWRF took the following drive 11 plays for 86 yards and ended with Jordan Christianson's first touchdown of the day on a 13 yard connection from Kusilek. Christianson had three catches for 33 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Kusilek went 12-24 for 58 yards and tossed two touchdowns in the game. He was also sacked four times. 

Pioneers kicker Pat Frio ended the half by hitting a 43 yard field goal as time expired to move them up 10-7 over UWRF going into the half. 

Early in the third quarter Ashley fumbled giving the Pioneers the ball in good field position. Puccini punched in a one yard touchdown coming off the turnover. Fumbles continued to be an issue when UWRF fumbled the ball back to UWP later in the quarter and Puccini again scored a one yard touchdown rush to put Platteville up 24-7 in the game. 

UWRF answered just 10 seconds into the fourth quarter when Kusilek found Christianson for the second time in the game for a four yard touchdown. The Falcons never got the offense going again the rest of the half and the Pioneers won their homecoming game 24-14 on a beautiful fall day. 

Another tough WIAC match is ahead for UWRF as they head to UW-Oshkosh next Saturday with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
