Tim Bergstraser and
Lance Westberg have joined the Falcon men's basketball coaching staff for the 2014-15 season.
"We are very pleased to add Lance and Tim to our program," said Falcon Coach
Jeff Berkhof. "They are hard working individuals who are excited to start their college coaching careers after having very good playing careers. They will have a big impact on our recruiting efforts along with our player development."
Bergstraser, a former St. Cloud State player, had an outstanding career helping the Huskies to the NCAA Division II Final Four in 2009-10. During the 2011-12 season, Bergstraser was named to the All-NSIC second team when he started 28 games and was second on the team in scoring averaging 12.8 points a game and led the team in rebounding pulling down 7.5 a game. Bergstraser's career was cut short due to three ACL tears to the same knee.

During the 2013-14 season Bergstraser served as a student assistant at St. Cloud State. Along with his duties at St. Cloud State, Bergstraser has been a part of the Minnesota Comets AAU team for the 14U elite.Â

The former St. Cloud Apollo High School player majored in sports management and recreation at St. Cloud State.

Bergstraser will be involved in recruiting, player development/post players and administrative duties.Â
Westberg joins the Falcons after a year as an assistant coach at River Falls High School and leading the varsity reserve program to a 16-6 season in 2013-2014. He also brings coaching experience from his work with the Minnesota Triple Threat club team, where he has been a head coach for three years.
Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Westberg played for four years at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul where he was a part of three regular season UMAC championships, three conference tournament championships, and three NCAA national tournament appearances from 2010-13.Â
Individually, he earned honorable mention to the All-UMAC team during the 2012-13 season along with being named the conference championship MVP, and the UMAC Individual Sportsmanship Award.
The former River Falls High School player graduated from the University of Northwestern with a bachelor's degree in educational studies.
Westberg is currently finishing his post-baccalaureate degree in math education at UW-River Falls and will finish in 2015.Â
Westberg will be involved with recruiting, player development/perimeter players, directing the Falcon summer basketball camps and academic monitoring. Â
The Falcons play an exhibition game on Nov. 8 at Augustana, S.D., College. UWRF plays it first regular season game on Nov. 15 at Bethel University.Â
