Box Score

It took a second half comeback, but the Falcon men's basketball team reigned victorious on Saturday night in a conference battle at UW-Platteville. The Falcons won the game with a seven point margin, 78-71.

The Falcons were led by Jon Christensen who contributed a double-double. Christensen put in 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, all of his rebounds were on the defensive end. Grant Erickson scored 15. Matt Timlin came off the bench and put in 11 for the Falcons.

Platteville saw a duo of players surpass the 20 point plateau. Jim Stocki was the high man of the night with 28 points with Boston Johnson not far behind with 24. Jake Manning was the only other player for Platteville to reach double-digits with a 10 point game.

The deciding factors of the game were the points scored below the basket and from the players coming off the bench. The Falcons ran away with the two important categories of points in the paint and bench points. The Falcons led the paint battle 44-24 while having a 33-11 advantage from their bench.

It was all Platteville in the first half of the ballgame. Platteville held the lead the whole first half including a 12 point lead at the 11:15 mark of the game thanks to a Boston Johnson dunk. Platteville went into the half with a four point, 36-32, lead.

River Falls would charge back in the second half, but would not take the lead until the 10:08 mark. A CJ Lewis score gave the Falcons a lead. The game would be tied multiple times after that, but that is as close as Platteville would get.

The loss puts UW-Platteville with a 10-5 record overall with a 3-3 conference mark. The victory gives UW-River Falls a 6-9 overall record and a 4-2 conference mark.

The Falcons next play on Saturday in a home matchup against UW-Stevens Point. The game is set for a 5 p.m. tipoff at the Karges Center
