The UW-River Falls men's hockey team defeated the Aurora University Spartans 3-1 on Saturday evening to extend its winning streak to 13 games thanks to two power play goals from sophomore forward
Christian George.
George finished the weekend with four goals, giving him seven goals in just six games this season. Falcons junior goaltender
Tanner Milliron (13-0) made 20 saves in his 13th victory of the season.
Spartans junior forward Michael Mikulan hit the post on an early first period Aurora power play, but the Falcons held the Spartans without a shot on goal with the early man advantage.
Spartans sophomore forward Jimmie Perkins scored the opening goal of the game at 7:51 of the first period with an assist to freshman forward Justin Gregory. Perkins' second goal of the weekend gives him five on the season. Gregory's assist was his fourth of the year. The goal was scored on Aurora's second shot of the game.

Mike Dietrich also hit the post on a late first period power play but the puck didn't find twine. Spartans freshman goaltender Griffin Strain (0-6) made four saves on the power play, and Aurora carried a 1-0 lead heading into the second period.
UWRF outshot Aurora 10-5 in the first period. Junior captain defenseman
Alex Murphy led UWRF with three shots in the first. Milliron made just four saves in the first. Both teams went 0-1 on the power play.
George tied the contest at one just 48 seconds into the second period with his second power play goal of the season. At the time, the goal was George's sixth in six games this season. Freshman forward
Kyle Gattelaro was credited with his sixth assist of the season on the goal.
The Falcons outshot Aurora 6-2 in the first 11 minutes of the second period but Strain was able to keep the puck out of the net. On a mid-second period Aurora power play Spartans freshman forward Rihards Marenis rang yet another shot off the post. The power play was eventually killed with the Falcons only allowing one shot on goal.
UWRF outshot Aurora 9-6 in the second period. Aurora went 0-2 on the power play in the period and UWRF went 1-1. Both goaltenders were strong, combining for 14 saves on 15 total shots. Murphy and George led UWRF with four shots through two periods.
The Spartans opened the third period with a 6-0 shot advantage but were unable to solve Milliron. George eventually put the Falcons ahead 2-1 with his second goal of the game and fourth of the weekend at 9:30 of the third period; his seventh goal of the season was also his third power play tally of the season. Dietrich earned his fifth assist of the season on the goal, and freshman defenseman
Terry Leabo was credited with his team-leading eighth assist of the season.

Jeff Bergh iced the game with his third goal of the season at 16:26 of the third period. Bergh was assisted by sophomore defenseman
Michael Lant and senior captain forward
Blake Huppert, who earned their second and fifth assists of the season, respectively.
UWRF outshot Aurora 27-21 on the night. UWRF went 2-3 on the power play, while Aurora finished 0-4. Murphy and George led the Falcons with five shots on goal each.
UWRF improves to 13-0 overall and 8-0 at home. Aurora falls to 1-11-1 overall and 0-9-1 on the road.
The Falcons travel to the University of St. Thomas to take on the Tommies on Friday evening with the drop of the puck scheduled for 7 p.m. in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
