Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team lost a tough overtime battle to Augsburg College Saturday evening 2-1.
The first period was quiet for both teams. The Falcons only had two shots in the period. The second period was a different story as the Falcons had 12 shots.
Michael Lant scored the only goal for the Falcons at 3:06 in the second period. The goal was his first of the season on a pass from
Zach Schrotenboer. Augsburg came back in the third period to tie it up 1-1 on a short-handed goal after their player was called for hooking.
In the overtime period, the Falcons had opportunities to score but the Auggies goaltender was too strong saving three for the four shorts the Falcons put up. At 3:36, Augsburg broke the tie scoring the game winning goal.
Tanner Milliron took the loss for the Falcons. He gave up two goals but had 23 saves on the night.
Offensively, the Falcons had 25 shots. They were 0-3 on power play opportunities.
The Falcons return to action this Friday against Lake Forest College. Game time is set for 7:05 at Hunt Arena.
