Box Score MENOMONIE, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team used a 9-0 run in the third period to pick up an 86-76 WIAC conference win over the UW-Stout Blue Devils Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons took control of the first quarter and finished with a 23-18 lead. The Blue Devils would not stand for it and quickly took over the second quarter. Stout led going into the halftime break 39-36.
The Falcons came out in the third quarter, taking a 41-40 lead on a jumper by
Taylor Karge and a 3-pointer by
Brynn Liljander. With 1:47 remaining in the quarter Liljander had a three pointer that gave the Falcons a 16 point lead which was the largest of the evening.
The Falcons maintained their lead going into the fourth quarter where they led wire to wire. The Blue Devils would only be able to get within eight points.
River Falls finished the game with four players in double figures, led by Karge's 23 points.
Kate Theisen scored a double-double, putting in 13 points and adding 13 rebounds.
Brynn Liljander added 16 points and
Mikaela Wilson came off the bench to score 10.
The Falcons outrebounded the Blue Devils, 46-38. River Falls shot 44.4 percent (32-72) from the floor, while Stout shot 41.5 percent (27-65).
The Falcons now 11-2 on the season and 2-0 in the conference will host UW-Whitewater, Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.
