River Falls, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – In a grind it out performance, the UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell to undefeated Augsburg College by a score of 1-0 at Hunt Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first period, the Falcons quickly took control offensively. UWRF registered nine shots in the period to the Auggies three. Goaltender Nick Schmit stopped all nine shots and kept the score knotted at 0-0.
- In that first period, the Falcons were called for one minor penalty and the Auggies were called for three minor penalties. The Falcons would have two full power plays in the period and attempted one shot.
- The second period was where the Auggies broke through for the first and only score of the game. At 3:12 in the second period Trevor Stewart scored his fourth goal of the year to give the Auggies a 1-0 lead. He was assisted by Drew Anderson and Rory Vesel.
- UWRF would have chances to pull even with Augsburg with two power plays and fired four shots on goal with no avail. The Falcons would also kill three penalties during the second period to keep it a one score game.
- In the third period, the Auggies would put on the pressure with two full power plays. The Falcons held the Auggies to just three shots in those power plays, but the Auggies would still out shoot the Falcons 12-3 in the final period of play.
- Zach Quinn started in goal for UWRF. He saved 26 shots in the game, 12 in the third period and 11 in the second period to keep UWRF in the game.
- Mike Dietrich and Eddie Matsushima each had four shots on goal for UW-River Falls. Michael Lant and Joe Drapluk each added three shots in the game as well.
- Christian George won 13 of his 20 face offs in the game. The Falcons won 34 of the possible 68 face offs.
THE OPPOSITION
- Max Pernhem led the Auggies in shots on goal in the game with five total. Nate Flynn had four shots on goal, three of which came in the third period.
- Evan Hesse won 11 of his 17 face offs in the game. Trevor Stewart won nine face offs to add to the team's 34 face off victories.
- Out shooting UWRF 27-24, the Auggies are the first team to have more shots against the Falcons in 2016.

Falcon hockey will now head on a three game road trip. First will be Lake Forest College on November 18
th at 7:30 p.m. Then on November 19
th the Falcons will play Milwaukee School of Engineering with a puck drop at 7 p.m. Then UWRF will play their first WIAC game of 2016 against the defending National Champions UW-Stevens Point on December 2
