Falcons Fall to the Foresters on the Road

Lake Forest, IL. (uwrfsports.com) - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team traveled to take on the Foresters of Lake Forest College on Friday night.  In a highly contested game the Falcons tied the game midway through the third period before the Foresters scored a late power play goal to take the win 3-2 over the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first period featured multiple power plays for each team.  The first given to the Foresters at 1:05 into the 1st period.  The Falcons would kill off that penalty and get rewarded with a power play of their own.  The Falcons would not score on their power play and had to kill off two more minor penalties in the period.
  • The Foresters would break the scoreless tie at the 15:36 mark, when Charlie Izaguirre found the back of the net.
  • The Falcons would get a third chance on the power play at the 18:59 mark of the period but could not capitalize before the end of the period, but did draw another penalty on the Foresters with 5 seconds left in the period to create a 5 on 3 power play to open the second period.
  • The Falcons were able to tie the game at 1-1 on a power play goal by Hunter Schneider at 3:30 into the second period.  Schneider's first goal of the season.  He was assisted on the goal by Blake Anderson and Terry Leabo.
  • The game was tied for just over three minutes when the Foresters took the lead once again at 6:56 of the period when Bron Loiselle slipped one past the Falcon goaltender to give the Foresters at 2-1 lead.
  • Both teams would exchange penalties but neither team could take advantage and the second period ended with the Foresters up 2-1.
  • The Falcons would battle hard early in the third period drawing another Forester penalty. The Falcons put extended pressure on the Forester defense and less than a minute after the penalty expired the Falcons tied the game at 2.  Joe Drapluk would score his 4th goal of the season.  He was assisted on his goal by Mitch Kontny.
  • Once again the Foresters would answer the Falcons goal.  The Foresters would score less than a minute later on a power play.  Mark Esshaki would find the back of the net to put the Foresters up 3-2.
  • The Falcons would pressure late on a 5 on 3 power play but could not get the equalizer as the Foresters went on to win 3-2. 
THE OPPOSITION
  • Jack Lewis led the Foresters with 6 shots on goal and 3 assists.
  • The Foresters out shot the Falcons 34-21
LOOKING AHEAD
  • The Falcons will travel to take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday night with puck drop set for 7 p.m.
  • The Falcons will open up WIAC play on Dec. 2nd when they travel to take on UW-Stevens Point.
