Women’s Hockey Suffers First Loss to UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - The undefeated Women's Hockey team went to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds on November 19, 2016. The Falcons suffered their first loss against the Blugolds 4-2 on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Angie Hall started in goal for the Falcons and played up until the second period. She saved a total of 10 shots with 2 goals allowed.
  • The Blugolds came out fast and scored their first goal within 3 minutes of the first period putting them up 1-0. The goal came from Mariah Czech and was assisted by Claudia Gagnon.
  • Shortly after, the Falcons were forced to fend off a penalty coming from Carina Randazzo for interference at 4:56.
  • At 16:35 in the first period, Paige Johnson was called for tripping putting the Falcons back on penalty kill.
  • At 17:06, Courtney Wittig would score on power play to put the Blugolds up 2-0. Elizabeth Bauer assisted the goal.
  • The last two minutes of the first period were filled with penalties on the Blugolds giving the Falcons two power play opportunities. The penalties came from Jaedyn Walz and Holly Turnball both for holding.
  • Tatyana Delaittre was put in goal for the Falcons and played the 2nd and 3rd periods allowing 1 goal and saving 9 shots total.
  • The second period started with a power play for the Falcons and would end at 1:33 into the period.
  • 6:40 into the second period, the Blugolds scored another goal to put them at 3-0. Courtney Wittig scored her second goal of the night. Elizabeth Bauer assisted the goal.
  • At 8:30 in the second period, Carly Moran would go in the box for hooking.
  • 3 minutes into the third period, the Falcons were able to score a goal and put the score at 1-3. The goal came from Dani Sibley and was assisted by Carly Moran.
  • The Blugolds had two penalties in a row coming from Sami Meister for hooking and Holly turnball for hooking. UW-Eau Claire was able to fend off the penalties and keep the score 3-1.
  • 11:30 minutes into the third period, the Blugolds would receive another penalty for tripping on Sydney Schneider.
  • At 19:23 in the third period, the Blugolds would score an empty net goal to secure the win. The goal came from Jaedyn Walz.
  • At 19:48 in the third period, Katherine Larson scored her first goal of her collegiate career to put the score at 2-4. Carina Randazzo and Jessie Anderson assisted the goal.

  • The Blugolds had a total of 19 shots on net and 4 goals to secure a win over UW-River Falls.
