River Falls, Wis.-(uwrfsports.com)-The UW-River Falls men's hockey team battled the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds on Saturday night at Hunt Arena. The Falcons tied the game half way through the second period, but the Blugolds added a late power play goal in the third period to beat the Falcons 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons came out with great intensity and had the Blugolds on their heels, drawing the first penalty of the game at the 7 minute mark of the 1st period. The Falcons pressured on the power play but could not score.
- Kyle Gattelaro was called for tripping late in the Falcon power play leading to a Blugold power play, but a couple of big saves by goaltender Zach Quinn kept the game scoreless.
- The Blugolds would break the tie at the 15 minute mark of the period when Kyle Lee found the back of the net putting the Blugolds up 1-0.
- The Falcons would get a late power play but could not tie the game before the end of the first period.
- Christian George would tie the game for the Falcons on the power play at the 10 minute mark of the second period when he pounced on a rebound in front and beat the Blugold goaltender.
- The Blugolds would strike 5 minutes later to take the lead at 2-1.
- The second period ended with the Falcons down by a goal.
- The third period saw the Falcons on the penalty kill for most of the first 10 minutes, including a 5 on 3 at one point for the Blugolds.
- The Falcons killed off two penalties in the third period before the Blugolds would get a power play goal at the 13 minute mark of the period to push their lead to 3-1.
- The Falcons would make a final push late in the third period but could not score as the Blugolds got the victory 3-1.
- The Blugolds out shot the Falcons 31-21 on the night.
- Falcon goaltender Zach Quinn made 28 saves on the night.
