CLERMONT, Fla. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls Falcons Softball team battled to go 1-1 on Day Two of the PFX games.
Game 1 Vs: Becker College The Falcons started off day two by facing off against the Hawks from Becker College. The Falcons took the loss by a tally of 1-0.
The Hawks scored the lone run of the game in the fifth inning.
Sarah Sorensen,
Shannan Borchardt, and
Maddie Studnicka all picked up hits on the day with Studnicka providing the only extra base hit for the Falcons.
Taking the loss for the Falcons was
Amber Galloway who gave up one earned run while giving up seven hits in five full innings of work. Galloway also struck out three batters.
Maddie Studnicka replaced Galloway in the sixth inning and went the final two innings while allowing no runs and no hits while striking out two.
Game 2 Vs: Concordia University - Wisconsin The Falcons finished off day two by picking up a 6-3 win against in state foe Concordia University-Wisconsin.
The Falcons started off the scoring in the fifth inning when
Hannah Zurn stole home on a double steal in which
Abby Veloske also stole second.
Aiyana Ledwein brought in the games second run on a sacrifice fly that allowed Veloske to score.
Katie Thompson kept her hot streak going when she singled in
Sarah Sorensen and
Kaia Dorn, making the score 4-0 in favor of the Falcons.
The Falcons got back on the board in the sixth inning when Ledwein singled in Veloske and
Shannan Borchardt.
The Falcons of Concordia University would score two runs in the sixth, and one in the seventh to push the score to its final tally of 6-3 in favor of UW-River Falls.
Taking the mound for the Falcons was
Michelle LaCasse who went the full game and gave up three runs on seven hits.
The Falcons play next on Tuesday when they take on Wesleyan University at 1:00 P.M. and then again at 3:00 P.M. when they take on Transylvania University.
