Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. (uwrfsports.com) – The Falcons continued to battle on day three of the PFX Games.
Game 1 Vs: Wesleyan University The Falcons battled with the Cardinals of Wesleyan University in a game that would be won in the seventh inning by the Cardinals.
The Cardinals scored the games first run in the bottom of the first inning.
The Falcons would strike back hard as they scored six runs in the top of the third inning. It was all started by
Aiyana Ledwein, who singled in
Erin Ralph.
Katie Thompson then doubled in both
Sarah Sorensen and
Abby Veloske.
Shannan Borchardt doubled to right field scoring Thompson to push the score to 5-1 Falcons.
Maddie Studnicka came across as the sixth run on an error by the shortstop.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning and added another run in the bottom of the fourth to push the score closer as it would become a 6-5 game in favor of the Falcons.
The Falcons scored a pair in the top of the fifth inning on Veloske's single, which scored Borchardt, and
Ali Murray.
Wesleyan added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 8-7 Falcons.
Aiyana Ledwein would score the Falcons final run on the day in the top of the sixth as Studnicka popped out to the shortstop.
The Cardinals came back in the bottom of the seventh to score three runs which allowed them to steal the game from the Falcons with the final score of 10-9 Cardinals.
Payton Speckel started the game on the mound for the Falcons and went three innings while allowing three runs on just five hits. Replacing Speckel in the bottom of the fourth was
Maddie Studnicka. Studnicka took the loss while giving up seven runs on 12 hits.
Game 2 Vs: Transylvania University The Falcons took on the Pioneers of Transylvania University in game two.
The Falcons would take the loss 14-0.
Picking up the lone hit of the game for the Falcons was
Ali Krohn who doubled to center field in the bottom of the second inning.
Taking the mound to start the game for the Falcons was
Emma Steiner who went one third of an inning while surrendering two runs on two hits and taking the loss. Replacing Steiner in the first inning was
Amber Galloway who allowed three runs on four hits, and also struck out one batter. Taking the ball from Galloway was reigning WIAC Player of the Week
Michelle LaCasse. LaCasse went the final three and two thirds innings while allowing eight runs on six hits and striking out seven to end the game.
The Falcons play their next two games on Thursday afternoon when they first take on North Park University at 1:00 P.M. and then they take on Heidelberg University at 3:00 P.M.
