Kressel Highlights Falcons' 2026 WIAC Honors

MADISON, Wis. – The UW-River Falls softball team earned two postseason honors from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) following the conclusion of the 2026 season. Sophomore catcher Caitlyn Kressel was named to the 2026 All-WIAC Team while senior infielder Grace Gardner earned recognition on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Kressel, a sophomore from Kronenwetter, Wis. (D.C. Everest), turned in one of the top offensive seasons in the WIAC this spring. Kressel finished the regular season batting .402 with a 1.073 OPS, collecting 47 hits, seven doubles, one triple, five home runs and 25 RBI across 38 games played. Her .402 batting average ranked seventh overall in the WIAC while her 1.073 OPS also ranked among the conference leaders. Defensively, she was equally impressive behind the plate, recording a .993 fielding percentage with just one error in 144 total chances, ranking seventh in the conference.

In conference play, Kressel elevated her game even further, batting .415 with a team-best 1.175 OPS in 14 WIAC contests. She totaled 17 hits, three doubles, three home runs and eight RBI while posting a .707 slugging percentage against conference opponents. Behind the plate, Kressel finished conference action with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, not committing an error in 59 total chances.

Gardner, a senior from Big Lake, Minn. (Big Lake), was selected to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team for her leadership and impact throughout her Falcon career. Gardner appeared in 37 games this season, making 34 starts while serving as one of the program's veteran leaders. She ended the season with 19 hits with five doubles and two triples, while driving in eight runs.
