CLERMONT, Fla. (uwrfsports.com) – The Falcons of UW-River Falls completed their Florida trip by competing against Frostburg State University and Endicott College.
Game 1 Vs: Frostburg State In their first game of the day on Friday the Falcons played host to the Bobcats of Frostburg State and took the win by a score of 4-3.
Michelle LaCasse started off the scoring for the Falcons in the bottom of the first when she doubled to right field scoring
Aiyana Ledwein.
Abby Veloske also doubled in the bottom of the first, this time scoring
Katie Thompson to push the score to 2-0.
The Bobcats struck back in the top of the second when they scored two runs to tie the ball game.
Ledwein singled to left to start the bottom of the third inning and was brought in on
Katie Thompson's double. Thompson later scored on
Michelle LaCasse's pop out bringing the score to 4-2 Falcons.
Frostburg State added one more run in the top of the fifth to bring the score to its final tally of 4-3.
Michelle LaCasse earned her fourth win of the season for the Falcons going seven innings and allowing three runs on just three hits. LaCasse also struck out four batters.
Game 2 Vs: Endicott College Playing their final game in Florida for the 2016 season the Falcons of River Falls took on the Gulls of Endicott College in a game that would end 8-3 in favor of Endicott.
The Gulls broke things open in the bottom of the first when they scored three runs on four hits.
River Falls got on the board in the top of the second when
Shannan Borchardt scored on
Abby Veloske's single. Veloske then scored on
Ali Krohn's single to push the score to 3-2 Gulls.
The Gulls scored another three runs in the bottom of the second inning to push the tally to 6-2.
Kaia Dorn would single in the final run of the day for the Falcons in the top of the fourth inning when she singled in Borchardt.
Endicott added runs in both the bottom of the fifth and the sixth to push the game out of reach for the Falcons.
Payton Speckel would take the loss on the day for the Falcons as she allowed eight runs on ten hits while striking out one batter in six full innings of work.
The Falcons will travel next to St. Paul, Minnesota on Tuesday, March 29
th to take on St. Catherine's University in a double header that begins at 3:00 P.M.
