Women's Hockey Shuts Out St. Norbert on the Road

De Pere, Wis. -(uwrfsports.com)- The UW-River Falls Women's hockey team traveled to De Pere, Wisconsin on January 10, 2017 to take on the St. Norbert's College Knights. The Falcons were able to beat the Knights 3-0 and up their win streak to 8 games. Carly Moran, Dani Kocina, and Amy Auran scored to lead the Falcons to another win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Angie Hall had another strong performance with 12 saves and recorded her fourth shutout of the season. She played in net for the duration of the game with 3 shots in the first period, 3 in the second, and 6 in the third.
  • The Falcons were unable to score in the first period, but racked up a total of 13 shots on St. Norbert's goalie, Leigh Grall.
  • 5 minutes into the second period the Falcons were able to gain momentum and score their first goal to put them on top 1-0. The goal came from Carly Moran and was assisted by Paige Johnson.
  • The Falcons were able to score again at 11:36 in the second period to make the score 2-0. Dani Kocina scored the goal to help the Falcons further secure the win. Dani Sibley and Payton Rudiger assisted the goal.
  • The sole penalty of the game came from Natasha Smith of the St. Norbert's Knights at 15:06 in the second period. The penalty was received for tripping. The knights were able to fend off the power play to keep the score 2-0.
  • At the end of the third period, Amy Auran scored to make the final score 3-0. The goal came at 17:57 and was assisted by Carina Randazzo.
 
 
THE OPPOSITION
  • Leigh Grall played in net for the Knights and had a total of 27 saves. The Falcons had 13 shots in the first period, 5 in the second, and 9 in the third. Grall allowed two goals with the other being on an empty net.
  • The Knights had a total of 12 shots on net.
 
 
LOOKING AHEAD
 
The Falcons will have another long trip this weekend when they go to Ashland Wisconsin to take on Northland College. They will play the Lumber Jill's on January 13th and 14th.
