River Falls, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – With two goals coming from senior
Ryan Doner, the UW-River Falls men's hockey team scored their most goals in a game this season in a 7-2 win over Bethel University at Hunt Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoring their most goals since a 9-0 victory last season, the Falcons ran away with a win at home and have now won five out of six games.
- Just 2:12 into the first period, Taylor Burden opened up the scoring with an assist coming from Mitch Kontny and Terry Leabo.
- Bethel responded just five minutes later on a breakaway goal while on the penalty kill. Just the second shorthanded goal given up by UWRF this season.
- With the first period winding down, on the power play, senior Mike Fazio beat the goaltender on a quick hitter off of a faceoff on the right side of the goalie. The goal would end up being the game winning goal.
- In a grind it out second period, the Falcons earned a little breathing room at 15:36 with Ryan Doner's first goal of the season. He was assisted by Kyle Gattelaro and Christian George.
- UWRF opened up the floodgates in the third period with four goals. The first coming on a fantastic top shelf goal by freshman Aussie Miller, his first of his career at UWRF. The goal was assisted by Blake Anderson and Mike Dietrich.
- Doner added his second goal at 7:09 in the third period to extend the lead to 5-1, he was assisted by Gattelaro and George.
- Bethel scored their second goal of the game at 9:29 after a Falcon turnover in their defensive zone. George Splichal scored the unassisted goal to bring the score to 5-2.
- About a minute later, Joe Drapluk scored his sixth goal of the season to bring the Falcon goal total to 6.
- Kontny brought his point total to three with a goal at 18:11 in the third period. His goal was assisted by Drapluk and Burden.
- The Falcon defense played stellar all night long. The only two penalty kills came in the third period. The Falcons allowed just two shots on goal in those two power plays.
- Drapluk and George were the leaders in shots on goal for UWRF with six each. Kontny finished his night with a total of five, and Miller and Gattelaro each had four.
- Miller and Doner each fired three shots on goal for UWRF.
- Freshman goaltender Zach Quinn came up big in the third period with seven saves, and finished with 11 on the night.
THE OPPOSITON
- Bethel finished with a total of 13 shots on goal. Dallas Marvin had three shots to lead the Roayls.
- George Splichal won nine of his 15 face offs in the game to lead the Royals. Splichal also finished with two shots on goal.
- Joe Sheppard was the man between the pipes for the Royals. He finished with a total of 35 saves.
LOOKING AHEAD
UW-River Falls is back in action tomorrow night against Gustavus Adolphus (1-8-4, 0-5-1 MIAC). Last season, the Falcons shutout the Gusties 3-0.
