River Falls, WI (uwrfsports.com) - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team took on the #4 UW-Stevens Point Pointers on Saturday night at Hunt Arena. The Falcons got goals from 4 different players including 2 on the power play to beat the Pointers 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons came out flying the first period controlling the play and drawing a high sticking penalty on the Pointers at the 6:27 mark of the period.
- On the Falcon power play, Terry Leabo blasted a shot from the point through a screen in front to put the Falcons up 1-0. The goal was Leabo's first of the season, he was assisted on the goal by Ryan Doner and Brian Drapluk.
- The Pointers would answer at the 11:28 mark of the period when B.J. Duffin found the back of the net to tie the game at 1.
- Eddie Matsushima would be called for hooking at the 13:29 mark of the period, but the Falcons would fend off the Pointer power play.
- Late in the period the Pointers would be called for two consecutive penalties just over a minute apart giving the Falcons a 5 on 3 power play.
- Blake Anderson would fire a shot from the point that would find the back of the net to put the Falcons up 2-1. The goal was Anderson's second of the season and he was assisted on the goal by Taylor Burden.
- The first period would end with the Falcons up 2-1.
- The Falcon penalty killers would be tested early in the second period, when Blake Anderson was called for checking from behind at the 3:50 mark of the period and then less than a minute later Eddie Matsushima was called for tripping leading to a 5 on 3 power play for the Pointers. The Falcons would kill off both penalties and hold on to their 1 goal lead.
- At the 10:47 mark of the second period the Falcons pushed their lead to 3-1, when Taylor Burden scored his 3rd goal of the season. He was assisted on the goal by Michael Lant.
- Mitch Kontny would be called for two straight penalties in second half of the period, the first being for hooking at 13:42, negating a Falcon power play. The second being for interference at 16:29.Â
- The Pointers took advantage of the second Kontny penalty and pulled within a goal at 3-2. Kyle Sharkey scored the power play goal for the Pointers, his 7th of the season.
- The second period would end with the Falcons holding a 1 goal lead at 3-2.
- Mike Fazio scored on a wrist shot at the 1:30 mark in the 3rd period to give the Falcons a 2 goal lead at 4-2. The goal was Fazio's 5th on the season and he was assisted on the goal by Mike Dietrich and Aussie Miller.
- The Pointers would have two chances on the power play in the third period, with the first coming at the 5:18 mark when Blake Anderson was called for interference. The second power play game late in the period when Mike Fazio was called for tripping at the 16:24 mark. The Falcon penalty killers and goaltender Zach Quinn killed off both power plays including part of the second power play when the Pointers had pulled their goalie to give them a 2 man advantage.
- The Falcons held on to win by a score of 4-2.
- Zach Quinn made 30 saves to get the win for the Falcons.

- Max Milosek made 18 saves in net for the Pointers.
- The Pointers out shot the Falcons 32-22, with Ryan Bittner and Tanner Karty leading the way with 5 a piece.
