Women's Hockey Completes Weekend Sweep of UW-Stevens Point

River Falls, WI (uwrfsports.com) -The UW-River Falls women's hockey team completed the weekend series sweep against the UW-Stevens Point Pointers on January 21st at Hunt Arena. 7 different Falcons were able to score to lead the team to their 13th win in a row. This 13 game win streak ties the longest in program history. The 2010-2011 team was the last to win this many in a row.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Angie Hall allowed one goal in the game and had a total of 16 saves.
  • The first penalty of the game came at 5:38 in the first period on the Pointers, Maddie Monroe for tripping.
  • The Falcons were able to score their first goal of the night on the power play. Haley Nielsen scored the goal at 6:31 and came from Hailey Herdine and Carly Moran.
  • Carly Moran received a penalty for hooking at 9:15. The Falcons were able to fend off the Pointers and regain full strength.
  • Mackenzie Kratch was called for a holding penalty at 10:27 in the first period putting the Falcons back on power play.
  • Amy Auran received another penalty for the Falcons for tripping at 10:40.
  • No goals came from each team and ended with both teams on full strength and the score remaining 1-0.

  • The UW-Stevens Point Pointers pulled their goalie at 1:48. Payton Rudiger scored on the empty net to make the score 5-0. Hailey Herdine and Carly Moran assisted the goal.
  • Maddie Monroe served a penalty for too many men on the ice at 4:33 in the third period.
  • Hailey Herdine scored at 12:33 to make the score 6-0. Carly Moran and Payton Rudiger assisted the goal.
  • The Pointers were able to put the puck in the net to put the score at 6-1. Lexi Englund scored the goal 15 minutes into the third period. The goal was unassisted.
  • Ashley Effertz received a penalty for hooking at 15:27 and the Pointers pulled their goalie.
  • Dani Sibley scored on the empty net to make the final score 7-1. Carly Moran and Paige Johnson assisted the goal.
  • Emily Stark had a penalty at 17:20 for checking.
  • Ali Biagini served a penalty for roughing at 18:08.
